Owner Terms

Draft version 0.1-draft · Draft date: 16 July 2026 · Status: DRAFT — not yet legally reviewed

These draft terms apply to pet owners using Waggy, in addition to the general Terms of Service. They explain who you contract with, your duties, payments and what to expect from safety features.

How to read the highlights in this draft:

[PLACEHOLDER: …] — a company fact that does not exist yet (Waggy is not yet registered). Nothing here is invented.

[LEGAL REVIEW / PRODUCT DECISION: …] — an open question that Belgian legal counsel (or a product decision) must resolve.

1. Who you contract with

When you book, your service contract is with the Provider — not with Waggy. Waggy is the marketplace that facilitates discovery, booking, payment, communication and safety tooling.

The Provider’s profile shows whether they act as a professional/business provider (trader) or as a private individual; this status is shown again during the booking request and before you pay. Consumer protections that apply specifically to contracts with traders may not apply when you book a private individual. [LEGAL REVIEW: exact consumer-rights wording — checklist item LD-6.]

For trader Providers, the profile shows the declared legal/trading name and KBO/BCE company number. This business information is self-declared by the Provider and is only labelled as verified by Waggy after an administrator has completed an official-registry check or a documented manual verification. A wider pre-contract business-information disclosure may be added after Belgian legal review. [LEGAL REVIEW: disclosure scope — checklist item LD-2.]

2. Your duties as an Owner

  • Provide accurate, complete pet information (health conditions, behaviour, bite history, feeding/medication instructions) — Providers rely on it for safety.
  • Keep vaccinations and legal pet obligations (identification/registration) in order; upload relevant pet documents where useful.
  • Ensure safe handover conditions (equipment, keys/access arrangements you are comfortable with).
  • A meet-and-greet before a first booking is strongly recommended.
  • Provide emergency contact details and your vet’s information for active bookings.

Failing to disclose known risks (e.g. aggression) may make you liable for resulting damage and can lead to account measures.

3. Booking and payment

Pay only through the platform. Off-platform payment removes you from refund protection, incident support and the payment-security chain, and is prohibited for platform-originated bookings.

Prices are shown before you book; payment is captured on acceptance via Stripe. Tips are optional and go to the Provider.

Cancellations and refunds follow the Cancellation & Refund Policy (during beta: human admin review of every refund).

4. Safety features — what they are and are not

Waggy provides provider verification, live GPS walk tracking, photo walk reports, in-app chat/calls, incident reporting and an emergency flow.

Verification means documents were reviewed at a point in time; it does NOT guarantee that no incident will occur and is not insurance. You remain responsible for choosing a Provider you trust.

In an emergency, contact local emergency services or your vet first, then report in-app.

5. Reviews

After a completed booking you may review the Provider. Reviews must be honest and based on your genuine experience; moderation rules are in the general Terms.

6. Liability

The Provider is responsible for performing the service; Waggy’s platform liability is described in the general Terms. You are responsible for damage caused by your pet to the extent provided by Belgian law (custodian liability, Art. 1385 old Civil Code / current equivalent). [LEGAL REVIEW: correct current statutory reference — checklist item O-1.]

Family (BA familiale) insurance often covers pet incidents — we recommend checking your policy.

7. Your account and data

You can close your account anytime; deletion follows the Privacy Policy cascade. Open bookings must be completed or cancelled first.

Reminder: this document is a DRAFT.

It requires Belgian legal review before public launch and is shown during the private beta for transparency only. The highlighted placeholders above are intentionally visible and unresolved.
